Firefighter Taylor from the Hartford Fire Department has been teaching the second graders fire safety. Today's lesson was about the five steps of calling 911.

Here are the 5 steps to follow:

1.Provide your name.

2.Give the location of your emergency.

3. Inform the operator of the services needed, typically police and EMS.

4. Make a very short statement about the defensive incident. For example, “I was just attacked and had to defend myself.” or, “I was just the victim of a crime."

5. Hang up the phone.
